Nicki Ledermann
New York based Nicki Ledermann is a renowned OSCAR, EMMY and BAFTA nominated and awarded makeup artist of indisputable talent. She was makeup department head & designer for Joker and its sequel Joker: Folie à Deux (both, dir. Todd Phillips) and was nominated for an Academy Award and BAFTA for the former for her unforgettable designs.
Her early career in independent films in the 1990s and early 2000s includes Palookaville (dir. Alan Taylor), Happiness (dir. Todd Solondz), Walking and Talking (dir. Nicole Holofcener), and Jesus’s Son (dir. Alison Mclean).
She has created the make-up concepts and seamless execution for more than 65 feature films and ten television series including as key makeup artist and BAFTA nominee for the fashion and beauty touchstones The Devil Wears Prada (dir. David Frankel) including as personal makeup artist to Anne Hathaway, and throughout four series of Sex and the City (created by Darren Star) as both key and personal makeup artist to Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristen Davis.
She has been the makeup department head for director Martin Scorsese’s The Irishmen, and the Scorsese-directed and EMMY award-winning pilot of Boardwalk Empire.
Renowned for her meticulous balance of historical research, making bespoke handmade makeup and animating history for contemporary eyes, Ledermann has also been the makeup department head and EMMY award nominee for the Steven Soderbergh directed TV seasons 1 and 2 of The Knick (created by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler) and Vinyl (directors Martin Scorsese, Rich Cohen and Mick Jagger).
Ledermann is makeup department head for The Gilded Age (dir. Julian Fellowes), including its unaired third season, and for The Bride, written and directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Additional credits that show her unique capacity to design makeup for visually distinct films include The Greatest Showman (dir. Michael Gracey), Side Effects (dir. Steven Soderbergh), and the Coen brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis.
