MANDY LYONS
Mandy Lyons began hair styling in London within the creative environment of independent magazine editorial and fashion advertising. Her extensive career as both a department head and personal hairstylist within film and TV began when she moved to New York full time in the early 2000s. .
With Lyons’ capacity to amplify storytelling through hair design,which she first developed in her years of editorial fashion work, she has been a major collaborator on unique cinematic visions and stories, including as hair department head for Kar-Wai Wong’s My Blueberry Nights, Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler, Julie Tamor’s The Tempest, Jim Jarmusch’s Broken Flowers and Moonrise Kingdom, co-written and directed by Wes Anderson.
Lyons first became well known as the personal hair stylist to Sarah Jessica Parker on the 2002-2004 and 2008, series of Sex and the City created by Darren Starr. Lyons was also hairstylist to Parker for Sex and the City and Sex and the City 2 movies (dir. Michael Patrick King) and has been head of department and personal hair stylist to Parker for And Just Like That…since 2023.
Her collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker has been long-term and includes Did You Hear About the Morgans? (dir. Marc Lawrence), Hocus Pocus 2 (dir. Anne Fletcher), Spinning Into Butter (Mark Brokaw), Failure to Launch (dir. Tom Dey) and The Family Stone (dir. Thomas Bezucha).
Lyons has been hair department head for films including Tick,tick…BOOM! (dir. Lin-Manuel Miranda), The Goldfinch (dir. John Crowley), The Intern (Nancy Meyers), Young Adult (dir. Jason Reitman), The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (dir. Ben Stiller), and for the TV series The Undoing (dir. David E. Kelley).
She was also hair designer for A Quiet Place (dir. John Krasinski) and personal hair stylist to Emily Blunt on The Girl on the Train (dir. Tate Taylor). Lyons has worked with Juliane Moore on the Kingsmen: The Golden Circle (dir. Matthew Vaughn), Freeheld (dir. Peter Sollett), Still Alice (directors Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland), and Nonstop (dir. Jaume Collet-Serra), and with Jennifer Lopez for El cantante (dir. Leon Ichaso) and Second Act (dir. Peter Segal).
Lyons has also been the personal hair stylist for actor Rachel Weisz on Disobedience (dir. Sebastián Lelio), Definitely Maybe (dir. Adam Brooks), Dream House (dir. Jim Sheridan).
This year, Lyons has been hair department head for Babygirl (dir. Halina Reijn), starring Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson and is currently head of department for the forthcoming third series of And Just Like That.
